Introduction

Now read what I write, | all races of man,
All Heimdall's sons, | both high and low;
I write of wargames, | of Vikings and Saxons:
Old tales we re-tell, | of times long ago.

I've been collecting Games Workshop games for about 15 years (see my blog: http://miteyheroes.blogspot.com/), and re-enacting the Dark Ages for almost 10 years (see my website: http://haukr.co.uk/). So I don't know why it never occured to me before now to collecting Dark Ages wargames miniatures...

This blog will contain my reviews of different model sets, my thoughts on rules (reviews of exisiting rulesets and my own homegrown rules), details of how I paint my models, and links to any armies I see that look particularly cool! Basically, all my thoughts about Dark Age wargaming.

My aim is going to be to collect and paint up some large distinctive forces very quickly. My previous armies have all been painted over a black undercoat, have featured layers of drybrushing and highlights, and then washes. In these armies I'm instead going to use a white undercoat, 1 layer of basecoat, and then a wash. That's the plan, anyway!

I'll paint my forces one box set at a time, and then review each box set.
